Vocational & Employment Services

Since 1991, the Enterprise Work Activity Center and Milestone’s Supported Employment Program have worked hand-in-hand to provide our clients with vocational opportunities and prepare them for today’s workforce within the community.

Milestone's Enterprise is an innovative vocational training program that offers production services to the manufacturing industry and affords our clients the opportunity to receive on-the-job training as they participate in paid work activities through contractual assembly and packaging job assignments. Supervision and training are provided by qualified program specialists and floor supervisors. At Enterprise, approximately 80 individuals receive habilitative programming via structured activities designed to promote community employment success, safety, and professionalism. Enterprise employees are paid bi-weekly, observe conventional work routines, and take an active role in setting productivity goals. Because success in employment settings is contingent on completion of assigned tasks as well as work-related skills such as initiative, cooperation, professionalism, and safety awareness, those are the skills on which the Enterprise focuses. The facility’s work space, loading dock capacity, proximity to major transportation routes, and quality of service have created an abundance of paid assembly, packaging, and clerical jobs. Products include sunglasses, promotional materials, bulk mail, documents, and hardware products.

Milestone’s Supported Employment Program assists approximately 140 adults with a wide variety of disabilities in securing and maintaining employment in the community. Employment Specialists act as both advocate and consultant; they assess the candidate and analyze potential employers to create an optimal job match, provide on-the-job training, work to overcome barriers that clients may face in the business world, and provide employer consultation and follow-up assessments of employee performance and employer satisfaction. The program also provides Social Security benefits analysis and consultation on the use of Social Security Work Incentives.
