Community Residential ServicesHOST HOME PROGRAM
Milestone's Host Home Program provides opportunities for children, ages 4 to 18, with mental health diagnosis to receive help and support in the private residence of a family other than the home of the child's parents. The program provides temporary treatment-oriented care within a structured and caring family environment where the child can achieve progress and success. These children are helped to experience family and community life within a nurturing and therapeutic environment. The program also provides a living environment and a full range of psychosocial rehabilitation services, including therapy and coordination of appropriate educational services for children who require an intensive, structured living situation, yet can benefit from the more natural basis of the community family-based program.
Host Home Families
Milestone looks for very special parents who can offer an environment that is geared towards the child and family. The job of the Host Home parent is to provide stability, caring and guidance for the child. Host Home families make a commitment to open their lives to a child with specific needs and have the satisfaction of helping a child progress over time. The Host Home family is viewed as the chief therapeutic agent, aiding the child in the development of a healthy self-image and in the learning and subsequent internalization of appropriate behaviors.
While the child is in placement, the Host Home Clinician assists the child's natural family in seeking counseling with the goal being the evolution of a functional family system to which the child can return. The children visit their natural families on a regular basis. Host Home also provides short-term respite care for children. This care can last from days to weeks. Host parents receive compensation based on daily rate.

MENTAL RETARDATION COMMUNITY RESIDENTIAL PROGRAM
Milestone serves many clients in our Mental Retardation Community Residential Program. This program includes Lifesharing, In-Home Services, Supported Living and Coffeehouse as well as Respite Services.
Our Lifesharing Program is an alternative residential program to Community Living Arrangements. Our Lifesharing program places individuals with mental retardation with families who can provide for their special needs. Milestone selects very special families who can provide stability, guidance and care in a family oriented environment.
Our Home and Community Habilitation Program provides supports in the home or in the community to individulals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Staff work with the clients in the areas of personal hygiene, household chores, shopping, and banking, etc.
Coffeehouse is a fun recreation program available to individuals with mental retardation. Coffeehouse holds events and activities such as movie night, miniature golf, holiday dances and parties, just to name a few. Coffeehouse is held in two locations: at our Enterprise site in Monroeville and our site in Lawrenceville.
Milestone provides Respite Services for those individuals who are in need of supports as well as a place to stay for a short period of time. Our Respite Program consists of several of our Lifesharing families willing to take individuals in to their home on a short-term basis.
